Basilar Invagiation

BASILAR INVAGIATION
Basilar Invagination (BI) is a condition where the top of the spine grows and presses into the base of the skull. It causes narrowing of the skull opening where the spinal cord passes through to the brain. This causes pinching of the brain stem, the bundle of nerves that connects the brain to the spinal cord.

CAUSES OF BASILAR INVAGINATION

This condition is a result of either problem with the bones in the neck or abnormal flattening of the bottom of the skull. The condition can either be congenital or developed over time due to injury or a bone, connecting tissue, immune or endocrine disorder.
